the beginning

I started exploring the world of clay 25 years ago, when I took my first class at the Danforth Museum. There was something enchanting about taking a slab of clay and using my hands to shape it into a piece of art. After several years of hand building, the enchantment started to wear off. I hit a creative roadblock. It wasn't until a few years ago that one of my instructors encouraged me to try the wheel again. Something magical happened that day. My creative spark was reignited. Thanks to wheel throwing, my work has blossomed to new heights.

the ideas

my creative inspiration

People often ask me what inspires my pieces. As you'll see in my portfolio, I'm not married to a single style. I let the clay determine what it wants to be formed into. That changes from day to day and continuously evolves with time.

meraki (μεράκι)

A word that Greeks often use to describe what happens when you infuse your soul, creativity and love into your work.

the making

my embellished approach

I embellish my pieces with textures or colors that capture snippets of beauty from everyday life; an intricate design on a napkin, the texture on a pile of rocks by the Mediterranean seaside or the glowing embers of a fire. Embellishment is how I pour my love into each piece.

I design each of my pieces knowing that they will find their way into the right home. I encourage you to learn more about my process, browse the shelves or create a custom piece with me to find what is meaningful to you.
